It's Sunday evening and we're just e-mailing you from our extraordinary digs in Shanghai. This is likely the best hotel/apartment experience we've ever had. We're in a residential building that looks totally run down from the outside, and is immersed with Chinese families that talk loudly in dark dingy corridors and hang their clothes from the pipes in the hallways. However, stepping inside our "pad", you would think you're in a shi shi 5 star suite. The staff here have been extremely helpful and friendly, including providing us with a mobile phone so that we can contact them anytime, as well as inviting us to the owner's place the other night for drinks. Nadia is chilling out on our bed overlooking the Pudong skyline listening to a CD of chinese music that they've provided. The staff have also offered to move us to another unit for our last two nights which we went to go see - it has an iPod dock connected to surround sound speakers as well as full satellite TV.
